There were over 420 premier teams that participated, 70 divisions in total — making it the biggest soccer tournament in New York State and one of the largest tournaments in the entire Northeast Region with premier teams participating including Canada. Here's a quick lowdown...more than 6,000 players played in 1,100 games at 15 locations on 50 fields around Uniondale-Bethpage areas. EMSC Covanta Tournament Committee and Staff did an excellent job in coordinating and preparing all the ground work from registration to scheduling making sure all games were played simultaneously.

NEWS FLASH JUNE 2011: East Meadow Sparks Bring Girls U15 State Open Cup Title Back to Long Island
By Randy Vogt, Director of Public Relations, Eastern New York Youth Soccer Association
JUNE 9, 2011, New York USA. The East Meadow Sparks won the Girls-Under-15 State Open Cup championship with a 1-0 shut out of World Class FC ‘95 Carter at Stringham Park on June 4 in LaGrange, New York USA.
The Long Island Junior Soccer League team, which recently finished third in the Northeast Regional Premier League, scored on an Olimpico goal off a corner kick by Emily Aguedelo just before halftime. “The key to winning the game was making adjustments during the first half to relieve the pressure of World Class FC,” commented Sparks coach Tobias Bischof. “The goal came at the right time as we had the lead at halftime.” Coach Bischoff credited the defense for preserving the win. Goalkeeper Jordan Woodruff had the shut out. Defender Kristen Breihof went down injured in the first half so midfielder Brigid Brennan took her place in the defense.
“Franki Priore is always solid in the defense plus Nicole Forte and Samantha Longo were strong in defense as well,” Coach Bischoff added.
As the State Open Cup champs, East Meadow Sparks will represent the Eastern New York Youth Soccer Association in the Region 1 championships from July 1 to 5 in Lancaster, Pennsylvania USA.
With 120,000 youth soccer players and more than 25,000 volunteers, the Eastern New York Youth Soccer Association stretches from Montauk Point, Long Island to the Canadian border. Members are affiliated with 12 leagues throughout the association, which covers the entire state of New York east of Route 81. ENYYSA exists to promote and enhance the game of soccer for children and teenagers between the ages of 5 and 19 years old, and to encourage the healthy development of youth players, coaches, referees and administrators. All levels of soccer are offered––from intramural, travel team and premier players as well as Special Children. No child who wants to play soccer is turned away.
ENYYSA is a proud member of the United States Soccer Federation and United States Youth Soccer Association. For more information, please log on to http://www.enysoccer.com/, which receives nearly 300,000 hits annually from the growing soccer community.
